Photograph of an old and
desperate Quechua man who is trapped in a life of extreme poverty. Often
peasant Quechua people come to Cusco, which is the largest nearby city, looking
for work. Frequently, they are exploited, not earning enough to eat or
have shelter. With the cold nightly temperatures in Cusco often reaching
freezing temperatures, it is not uncommon for older homeless Quechua people to
perish during the night. In this image, photographer Chuck Clark captures
the intense feelings of this destitute and desperate Quechua man.
